The Mission
You are finally at the level 80 Destiny Quest, and your Destiny Quest giver wants you awaken the Grim Grey God to combat Thoth-Amon.
Completing this quest will remove the Mark of Acheron from your character's body.
The very first place that you are going is to the Lacheish Plans, to something called Crom's Rock.
Perform The Phoenix Ritual In Crom's Rock
Getting to the Lacheish Plains is easy. So is getting to Crom's Rock, for that matter. Once you find the "X" marked on your map on the northeast side of the map, you will notice that you are looking at an entrance to a place called the Field of Chiefs marked by a green see-through barrier. Enter the Field of Chiefs by walking through the barrier and go right to the large stone rune-carved boulder called Crom's Rock.
When you click the Rock, a cut scene is triggered and the requisite ritual is performed. This ritual removes the Mark of Acheron from your body.
King Conan's Throne Room
The completion of the ritual at Crom's Rock prompts the need to go see King Conan in the Tarantia Noble District of Old Tarantia. Go to see him, and after a cut scene is triggered, talk with him. and the talk with Conan is a short one.
Note: This talk also unlocks the ability to speak to Conan in his castle. So, if you have quests that require you to speak to Conan but you could not get into the castle previously, it is because Conan won't talk to you if you still have the Mark of Acheron on your body. From this point forward, any quests that require a talk with Conan will allow you to speak to him.
Once you get close enough to Mithrelle, the fight is triggered. Mithrelle herself does not come down off her ledge, and hitting her does you no good. Those egg sac mounds that you see on the ice will begin to spawn Ice Worm Hatchling minions. You can handle these in one of two ways: Kill the minions as quickly as possible each time a mound spawns a new set of minions or kill the egg sac mounds as quickly as possible to prevent the minions from spawning. You may see some minions doing this method, but you will not get overwhelmed by them, either. Once all of the minions that can spawn have done whether you let them all spawn or kill egg sacs), head toward Mithrelle to get her to unleash her beast: The Dominated Ice Worm.
Kalanthes And The Tuthnemtip Guard Leader
King Conan sends you off to Keshatta in Stygia to speak with Kalanthes. Kalanthes wants to help you...but not before you help him, of course. Kalanthes gives you the quest, "Ibis, Master of Hidden Secrets," which must be completed before you can move on to the Destiny quest.
Next you need to go to the City of Keshatta and talk to Cha, the Charm Seller. Cha sends you to search Tuthnemtip's chamber to find some Cryptic Notes.
Make your way through the chamber, killing Watch and Guard mobs along the way. The chamber is not that big, with only a couple of rooms in it. You will have to kill the Tuthnemptip Guard Leader boss, of course, when you get to where you are going. Once the boss is dead, look around you to see five pedastals in an arc around you, each one of them containing a clickable book called Tuthnemtip's Text. With the arc circling you as you face it, click the end book on the right. A House Tuthnemtip Warder will spawn immediately, and if you don't kill it, it will kill you. Clicking any other book will not give you the Cryptic Notes you need, but it will spawn another House Tuthnemtip Warder.
Return the notes you got from the chamber to Kalanthes. One Kalanthes has translated the notes, he helps you by teleporting you to the Grim Grey God's lair.
Boss: Grim Grey God, Part I
Turn on particles at this point. If you cannot see them, you cannot defeat this instance. After being teleported into the lair of the Grim Gray God, run down the hallway until you get to the split. You can either go straight (which is a dead end) or turn right to get to the boss. Obviously, go right and start down the aisle. A cut scene will trigger, telling you that a cult stands between you and the six true names of the Grim Grey God. Looking further down the aisle, you will see three sets of four mobs, each ready to slaughter you and prevent you from reaching the ramps beyond them. Before you approach the minions, take the opportunity to look to your left and right along the aisle. You will notice three alcoves on each side, each containing a single sarcophagus.
Once the mobs are dead, you get a message stating that the cult has been subdued for the time being. Turn around and run back toward the sarcophagi. The first one on the left, Sarcophagus of Dreifa, will be glowing purple. Click it to retrieve a tablet and then run up the ramp on the left side of the room where you'll spot a glowing Pedestal of Dreifa. Once you click it, a cut scene shows you some rocks nearby dropping off into a pit below. You are then told that the cult has summoned reinforcements.
Three sets of four mobs spawn, each set wandering up the aisle toward you. You will need to kill the sets of mobs as quickly as possible so that they do not stack up on you. As soon as they are dead, you are told you have subdued them once again and the Sarcophagus of Avitun on the right (the one closest to the ramps) begins to glow purple. Click it to retrieve its tablet and then run up the ramp on the right side of the room. Click the glowing Pedestal of Avitun. A cut scene shows more rocks falling off, but this time the rocks left behind seem to be hiding a green glow. You are then told that the cult has summoned reinforcements.
Two sets of seven mobs each spawn next, each set stopping halfway down the aisle. Kill each set quickly because you really do not want to be overwhelmed by these mobs. Once they are dead, the middle sarcophagus on the left, Sarcophagus of Nauoga, begins glowing purple. You need to click it to retrieve its tablet and run up the aisle toward the ramp on the left. A cut scene stops you short and, as you watch, you walk up the aisle to an apparition of Thoth-Amon. Thoth-Amon tells you he has enslaved the Grim Grey God and that you are going to have to die, now. Deadly, magical energies begin pulsating down the aisle at this point. You cannot avoid the first wave, which knocks you over. Once the wave is gone, head up the left ramp to the Pedestal of Nauoga. Before you click it, take a minute or two to watch how the pulses form and them rush down the aisle along the sarcophagus alcoves. You might also notice that the wave starts at the base of the ramps and heads toward the entrance. Remaining on the ramps keeps you safe. Click the pedestal to initiate another cut scene where more rocks fall off and the green glow gets bigger. Again, the cult has summoned reinforcements.
Seven mobs in a single wave are summoned. Because of the energy pulses, it is too dangerous to fight these guys in the middle of the aisle. Therefore, run halfway down the aisle to where the mobs stop and immediately drag them into a sarcophagus alcove to deal with. Once the mobs are dead, the middle sarcophagus on the right (Sarcophagus of Iolagi) begins glowing purple. Click it to retrive the tablet and subdue the cult, and race toward the right side ramp, avoiding the magic pulses. Click the Pedestal of Iolagi and watch the cut scene as two stone doors fall off and a green glowing ball is revealed. The cult summons more reinforcements.
This time the mobs that show up are Thoth-Amon's Heralds, and two of the six Heralds wander about. Use the alcoves to draw them in and slaughter them, though they are a lot tougher than anything you have handled thus far. Killing all of the mobs subdues the cult and causes the last sarcophagus on the left, Sarcophagus of Utlagi, to start glowing purple. Once you click the sarcophagus, you will notice that the magical pulses start coming faster. Run up the ramp to the left and click the glowing Pedestal of Utlagi. Two more pieces of stone fall off in the following cut scene, but the cult no longer summons reinforcements.
Make your way to the very last sarcophagus remaining on the right (Sarcophagus of Skaoa) and you find it already glowing purple. When you stand next to the sarcophagus, it automatically vanishes and reveals the Old One boss. The only thing that you have to watch out for with this boss is that he fears you. Fight the boss in the alcove and kill it. You receive the message that the Grim Grey God has perished, its sixth true name is revealed to you, and you are now bound to The Soul Chamber. Run back to the ramp on the right and click the glowing Pedestal of Skaoa. The triggered cut scene shows you the last of the rock vanishes and the green glowing ball emerges.
Your time in this chamber is done. Now you need to return to King Conan and talk to him. Your destiny is now at an end.
